cOGNITIVE STRATEGIES
Methods in which I used that I found very effective when helping my children are:
I also found out that it is better to study with children one on one, so they will know that they have your full attention and they will be able to focus better. Children will also feel more comfortable and are able to read and learn at their own pace without feeling any intimidation from the other children. Below, I go more into detail about how to practice each strategy with a child and why it may work best for your child.

Repetition
Repetition is a great way to get something to stick into anyone's head. It helps children gain a more comprehensive understanding of concepts. It also increases confidence and builds self-esteem. Repetition also improves speech and cognitive learning. When someone sees an unfamiliar word numerous times in different sentences, they will eventually realize what it's meaning or at least how to use the word correctly in a sentence.
Show and tell
Show and Tell is a very common activity in classrooms. It improves public speaking skills, it also helps children listen and visualize what they are learning. Show and tell is a great method to keep children interested in what they are learning and become active in the activity.
Simple
Keep I Simple Silly! Keeping things simple at first is the best way for a child to learn something. You start off simple, then when they get the hang of it, you advance the difficulty of it. Every child does not learn at the same sped, but keeping it simple will allow other to catch up. When teaching a group of children, this method will allow them to all be on the same level.
Bold face words
Bold face words is a great method to get something to stand out in a paragraph, or to summarize what is being taught. Bold face words are usually the most effective on children in the formal operational stage.
catchy phrases/songs
Catchy phrases are great for studying, this is very similar to how we remember our favorite song on the radio. Most catchy phrases or words are rhyming words, which make it easier to remember because you are limiting the choice of words that would come next.
